My Name is Jane Ayokhai and this is my ASUSU story……

My first week on the team, I journeyed along and was opportune to meet some corporative leaders physically and virtually. I could see their desire to digitize their systems to make serving their cooperatives easier, better and more transparent.

The first of my training was a virtual presentation of the ASUSU platform and its usability. The endless possibility this product has can only be limited by the mind of its user. It’s taking the back end of a bank’s system, breaking it down and making it available to anyone who has a need for it. It contains an admin access channel and a members access channel, creating an easy reach and organize cache of data.

I watched in awe as the currently running ASUSU 1.0 version was explained in detail, how it be used for data collection, record-keeping, contribution summations, loan applications and loan package creation. There is a wealth of information that can be put in and the cost implications are out rightly under-priced for this particular package product and service. Maintenance of the platform will be managed by ASUSU, all that is required is the information of your cooperative and you are ready to go.

What ASUSU Means to me

I discovered Everyone is on a journey to financial freedom or at the very least lightening their personal financial load. The need to make more, save more and do more with money is not uncommon. This is what a cooperative offers; the ability to help any individual be financially disciplined in putting away money for a future need, provide quick and easy business and personal loans; a community of like-minded individuals striving towards the same social goal.

The ESUSU as popularly know in Nigeria has been an enduring tradition among the Nigerian Informal and semi urban sector and thrives in government organizations. Collective contribution in any form can be tagged as ESUSU; the aim of these contributions is to provide financial and social support to its members when needed.

It became more clearer to me personally when i joined the ASUSU  team, the  obvious importance of this ESUSU groups to the society, Hence the reason why Yusuf Zakari and his friends decided to create a platform called ASUSU Technology were i now work,

ASUSU The New Revolution

Asusu Technology has been able to help this ESUSU groups in both the informal and Semi urban areas become for efficient in their day to day activities by digitizing their process. I had the opportunity to Speak with my boss while i joined the team and i asked him what made him think of this solution and he said his mum belonged in a cooperative and from there she will collect her contribution and use it in paying for his school fees and also when he needed other things in school, So he fell in love  with the cooperative structure and thought to help contribute to the process.

Having been to several meetings as a team member both physically and online and interacting with cooperatives and farmer groups using the ASUSU platform i have come to a conclusion that this platform is a necessity for every cooperative out there,

One of the major challenges for cooperatives that discourages a lot of people from participating is the issue of trust, transparency and credibility of those running the groups,  but I discovered with the ASUSU platform the members are able to manage their savings from the comfort of their home and the daily running of this groups is more transparent for all members to see.

The system helps you manage your saving, request for loans and view your contributions anywhere and anytime no matter the device.. ASUSU, the digital platform is well suited for managing any type of cooperative society both members and contributions, offers a robust system that can be customized depending on the individual Cooperative societies unique needs and focus for their members and contribution styles
